The
People’s Caucus of San Antonio is a peer group whose
mission is to unify the HIV+ community by gathering
information and input from persons living with HIV/AIDS
and using this information to bring changes and
excellence to San Antonio and South Texas. Thus
empowering all HIV/AIDS challenged individuals in our
community to live the highest quality of life possible
without discrimination in receiving care or services.
The Caucus’ role is to be the voice of all people living
with HIV/AIDS. We want to know if there are things going
on in the community that need to be addressed, to
include service delivery and quality of the service from
any organization.
The People's Caucus was established to
strengthen full and effective participation of people
with HIV/AIDS, and to provide feedback on Planning
Council activities and regular input into Planning
Council processes. The Caucus will have one community
elected Chair and one appointed by the Planning Council
Co-Chairs.
The following are the People’s Caucus
core deliverables: Assisting other committees of the
Planning Council to assure that the work of the Planning
Council is performed in a culturally sensitive manner;
Identifying traditionally underserved
and/or hard-to-reach populations; Creating liaisons and/or relationships
within the traditionally underserved and hard to reach
populations; and
Performing other duties as may be required or as
assigned by the Planning Council.
The People's Caucus
produces a "New Client Orientation Packet"
consisting of information contained in this website,
plus brochures produced by the individual AIDS Service
Organizations. Your case manager can provide you with
this packet.
The
Caucus meets the first Friday of the month at noon,
lunch will be provided.
